PGI Radiology Department wins awards at ISVIR National Interventional Radiology Conference
The 24thNational Conference of Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (ISVIR) was held in Jaipur. The conference was attended by about 750 delegates from India and abroad. Interventional Radiology is a well established superspeciality in PGIMER for the last over 30 years. After successfully running a Fellowship programme, the department of Radiodiagnosis, PGIMER, was the first in the Government sector in the country to start a DM programme in Interventional Radiology.The Department has many firsts to its credit, including performing the first Irreversible Electroporation (IRE) and Cryoablation procedures in India for treating cancers.
Prof.M.S. Sandhu, Head, Department of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging informed that it is a matter of great pride for the institute and for the Department,that many faculty members from the department have won awards at this coveted National Interventional Radiology Conference.
Prof. Mandeep Kang was honoured by being awarded the prestigious Gold Medal of the Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology for her outstanding contribution and meritorious service in the field of Interventional Radiology in India.
Dr. Ujjwal Gorsi (Additional Professor) and Dr. Sreedhara B.Chaluvashetty (Associate Professor) were honoured with the Best Reviewer Award for the Journal of Clinical Interventional Radiology, the official journal of the ISVIR.
Dr. Sunil Maru (Senior Resident in DM Interventional Radiology) won the Best Poster award in Interventional Oncology for his thesis work under Prof. Naveen Kalra.
