Melodic strings of Sitar regale the city audience in 291st Monthly baithak of Pracheen Kala Kendra
The music lovers of city beautiful treated with a melodic performance with strings of Sitar by Kolkata based Sitar player Partha Pratim Roy. Pracheen Kala Kendra organized its 291st Monthly baithak programe at its M.L. Koser Indoor Auditorium from 6:00 pm onwards .
Today’s artist Partha Pratim Roy , an ardent love for music from childhood made him battle against all odds and on all fronts. Moreover, he did not hail from a family steeped in the practice of music. However, his family’s friendly nexus with Pandit Nikhil Banerjee earned him the privilege of learning the art of Sitar from Pandit Debiprasad Chatterjee, a close successor of Banerjee. He also learnt sitar intracacies from Gurus like the late Pandit Niharbindu Chowdhury ,late Sangitacharya Ajay Sinha Roy, Pt. Anil Palit, Pandit Partha Chatterjee and Sangitacharya Bhupatinath Mukherjee and many other veteran and learned musicians. Since childhood he has been performing solo Sitar in various musical soirees in India. He has earned distinction with his solo performances all over India and abroad.
Partha chose Raga Rageshri , elaborate with quiet dignity of the methodical and reposeful alap followed by jod jhala and vilambit composition composed by famous sitar exponent Nikhil Banerjee . Amenable yet controlled handling of Sitar was ample proof of his talent , riyaaz and dedication to the music. Then he moved on to present a drut gat for humble tribute and in loving memory of legendary Rashid Khan sahib with one of his famous composition “ maane na meri baat with rhythmic touch and excellent strokes . He wrapped up with an invocatory Bhajan. He was finely accompanied by eminent Tabla player Jaidev of Punjab Gharana, to add more charisma to this concert .
The artists were honored with uttriya and memento by Registrar Dr. Shobha Koser. Sh. Sajal Koser gave vote of thanks to the media , artists and audience of city beautiful.
