Holistic plan for Revitalization of Sector-17, Chandigarh
Chandigarh Administration is undertaking the work of revitalization of Sector-17, Chandigarh so as to retain the original glory of Sector-17 Plaza. For the revitalization Plan of Sector-17, the consultant (The Architectural Studio & BDP, New Delhi ) has been engaged, who has developed the plan as per approval of Chandigarh Heritage Conservation Committee.
Work of Rose Garden Underpass, Urban Park, City Map Civil Work, 5-a-side football ground has been completed and
following works are being undertaken
• Ambient Lighting for Plaza
• Table Top behind Neelam Cinema
• Façade restoration & corridor flooring
• Skate park in Urban Park
• Amphitheatre behind DC Office.
• Bubble fountain near Neelam Cinema
• Projector mapping on City Map
• Table Top near Sindhi Sweets
• South Plaza Flooring and street furniture
These works will create renewed interest of the general public in Sector-17 thereby increasing footfall and increased commercial, tourist activities in the City Center. The bubble fountain will be of extreme interest for the kids as this would be a new attraction of its kind in Plaza area. The Projector Mapping on the city map shall be one of its kind project in the public spaces in North India.
The works of LED Screen near 17 Bays Building, Improvement of Junction at Sector 16-17 & Sector 17-18, 3 Water Bodies (GPO Building, Jagat Plaza, Towards Madhya Marg) & Redevelopment of North Plaza are also to be undertaken and are set to be completed by 31.12.2023.
Today the progress of the works was reviewed by the Sh. Dharam Pal, Adviser to the Administrator, Home Secretary and Secretary Engineering at site and directions have been passed to complete the above said works as per the above said deadlines.
