SLCC discusses working of NBFCs, UIBs
22nd meeting of the State Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) on Non-Banking Financial Companies (NBFCs) and Unincorporated Bodies (UIBs) was held in UT Secretariat today under the chairmanship of Dr. Vijay Namdeorao Zade, Finance Secretary Chandigarh and convened by Sh. M. K Mall, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI)Chandigarh.
During the meeting, Regulatory and policy initiatives taken by RBI, Awareness Programmes on protection of interest of investors/depositors and similar other issues were discussed. The Chairman expressed his satisfaction upon greater co-ordination between the regulators and law enforcement agencies to prevent unscrupulous entities from duping the general public of their hard-earned money. It was also decided to conduct financial awareness programmes more often for various target groups like students and law enforcement agencies in Chandigarh.
Regional Director, RBI informed about the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme of RBI which is working on ‘One Nation One Ombudsman’ concept now. He also apprised the forum about the usefulness of the ‘Sachet portal’ of RBI which facilitates lodging of complaints by general public as also the sharing of any relevant information by members of public and is intended to help in addressing the problem of unauthorised collection of deposits more effectively.
The Finance Secretary also impressed upon the need for continuing efforts for financial literacy as also the dos and don’ts as the online payments gain wider acceptability.
Ms. Hargunjit Kaur, Special Secretary Finance, Ms. Shruti Arora, Assistant Superintendent of Police, and senior officers from RBI, SEBI, ROC etc. participated in the meeting.
