On the eve of 12th Indian Organ Donation Day, NINE PGIMER students showcase their best creativity & sensitivity at ROTTO’s Infotainment Session themed ‘Live Life, Give Life’
Chandigarh: 26 Nov.: It was the best portrayal of creativity and sensitivity. Using colours and crayons, even pulses and seeds to give expression to their thoughts on the theme ‘Organ Donation’, the students of National Institute of Nursing Education (NINE) PGIMER showcased their exceptional talent in their paintings, posters and rangoli with their expressive and vivid art in an infotainment event here at NINE PGIMER today.
Organised with an intent to engage with young students through art to orient them about the altruistic cause of ‘Organ Donation,’ the infotainment event themed on ‘Live Life, Give Life’ was a part of the ongoing campaign to mark the observance of the 12th Indian Organ Donation Day.
The event was graced by Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta, Dean (Research) cum Medical Superintendent, PGIMER as the Chief Guest and Prof. Vipin Koushal, Addl.Med. Superintendent & Nodal Officer, ROTTO as the Guest of Honour. Dr Karobi Dass, Principal NINE, Dr Sukh Pal Kaur, Incharge(Academics) NINE and other senior faculty members from NINE were also present.
In all-around 100 students participated in the event. Alongside the colourful portrayal of sensitivity, there was an engaging and impressive enactment of street play focusing on prevalent myths and misconceptions prevalent in the society regarding organ donation, which left many in the audience moist-eyed..
Complimenting the initiative, Prof. Anil Kumar Gupta, Dean (Research) cum Medical Superintendent, PGIMER stated, “It is a social responsibility and we all must join hands and synergize to make the National Programme on Organ Donation a success. It is really thoughtful of NINE for having taken this initiative. They have not only highlighted the need to talk about the cause among the students but also set an example for other institutions to follow.” The Dean (Research) also lauded the role of students of NINE in the fight against COVID-19 here in PGIMER.
Expressing his sentiments, Prof. Vipin Koushal, Addl.Med.Superintendent & Nodal Officer, ROTTO said, “Encouraging participation from the students to inculcate awareness for Organ Donation is a welcome step as students can act as ‘change agents.”
Evincing a keen interest and proactive demeanour, Dr. Karobi Dass, Principal NINE stated, “This is an altruistic cause and we must orient the students about this national endeavour.” She proposed to make this campaign a part of other student engagement activities as well.
