PGI Chandigarh concludes five-day global Public health Management program

Senior professionals from 33 countries, inspired by PGI experts, vouch to practice public health management

The five-day online E- international Public Health Management Development Program (e-IPHMDP) organised by Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Chandigarh was successfully concluded on Friday, 26th March, 2021. Sponsored by Indian Technical Economic Cooperation, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India for 161 ITEC nations, the global program was attended by 100 participants from 33 nations. The program demonstrated country’s premium case practices in managing various health problems including current coronavirus pandemic.
Smt.Vini Mahajan, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Punjab, Prof. Jagat Ram Director, PGIMER , Shri Somnath Chatterjee, Director (DPA-II), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India and Dr. Harshad Thakur Director, NIHFW and Prof. Amarjeet Singh, HOD, DCM and SPH were the guest of Honour. Each of them appreciated this important initiative and spoke about the importance of public health management program in improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the program. The participants also appreciated the program organizers for conducting a very useful, innovative, informative, knowledgeable and interesting program which they can replicate in their settings.
In a video message, Smt. Vini Mahajan (IAS) Chief Secretary to the Government of Punjab told she has been a part of this program since the day it was conceived. She thanked all the e-ITEC participants for participating and positively contributing to the exchange of ideas and network is commendable. She also told the fun during the learning has actually led to show their self in a unique way. She ended by saying the participants have achieved a milestone in their journey of their life which they would have learnt through interesting things, build lifelong friends of trust and mutual support.
Director PGIMER, Prof. Jagat Ram welcomed dignitaries and participants for the valedictory ceremony and appreciated the dedication of participants who joined this program after overcoming the time barriers. He highlighted the aim of the program, the diverse teaching methodology, the fun activities and best practices taught during the program. He appreciated the Department of Community medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, especially Professor Sonu Goel and his team for conducting this wonderful program and more important sustaining it for 5 years now. Lastly he congratulates the Ministry of External Affairs for initiating this important program at PGIMER- an Institute of Eminence by Government of India.

Shri Somnath Chatterjee, Director (DPA-II), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India appreciated the support of PGIMER in conducting this program for last many years. He told that this program is one of the very popular programs across 161 ITEC nations and has been instrumental in building mutual cooperation among ITEC nations.

The valedictory ceremony consisted of glimpse of the 5 day program, live feedback session of participant and facilitator and Cultural Extravaganza where participants from 33 countries showcased their cultural heritage. While appreciating the efforts of participants for their intensive hard work and keenness to learn during this program, Dr. Goel, Program Director said that the program has trained over 600 participants from 85 countries. He also hopes that participants shall be the brand ambassadors of the program and shall conduct similar programs in their settings.
