Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home and Sh. Sanjay Baniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan. Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT & Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Principal (Officiating), GMCH & Director Health Services, GMSH-16 attended through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS

1. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT declared Public Holiday under Section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Sant Siromani Guru Ravidas Jayanti on 27/02/2021.

2. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT expressed serious concern about the laxity seen among people regarding observance of covid protocol. He regretted that people have thrown rules to the wind, as if corona has totally dis-appeared. He appealed to the residents to strictly observe corona appropriate behaviour like wearing of masks, social distancing and washing hands with sanitizer.

3. The Administrator stated that although he had directed normal OPDs functioning in all Medical Institutions, yet keeping in view the increase in number of corona cases, the Directors concerned must take their in house decision regarding the number of patients and other precautions to be taken in the premises.

4. The Administrator complimented Chandigarh Police for persuading the Uniform Personnel to opt for vaccine in large number. He stated that Chandigarh Police has acted as a model for the rest of the society.

5. Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have 55 covid patients in Nehru Hospital Extension, out of which 10 belong to Chandigarh, 32 to Punjab, 05 to Haryana and 4 to other states. He also stated that PGIMER has done total 4,500 OPD treatments, out of which 2,800 were physical consultation. The Director mentioned that 4,500 health workers, mostly the doctors have taken the vaccines. He also mentioned that the present strain seems to be more severe, as corona cases are surging in the region. Dr. Mini of PGIMER stated that 130 samples have been sent to Virology Institute in Pune and final report has not yet been received as to whether it is a different strain.

Dr. Jasbinder Kaur, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have tested 5,406 covid samples, out of which 93 were found positive. She also mentioned that during the last one week, the positivity rate was only 1%. She further mentioned that 7,360 patients have been treated physically in the Medical College and Hospital. Further, she mentioned that 2,546 health workers have been vaccinated.

Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health Services stated that they have tested 16,527 covid samples and the positivity rate found in the city last week was 2%. She mentioned that 3,052 patients have been screened in Flu Clinic and 23,394 houses were screened for checking Dengue. No dengue case has been found in the city during the last one month. She further mentioned that 5 Mobile Teams have been positioned in different places to provide testing facilities to the residents.

The Administrator directed that Mobile Teams for testing should be sent to crowded places like Apni Mandis, Bus Stand, Railway Station, Sukhna Lake, Rose Festival venue and such other places, where people gather in large number.

6. Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health stated that presently vaccination facility is available at 13 sites. It will be extended to 16 sites during next few days. He also mentioned that soon private hospitals will be approached and if found suitable, the facility for vaccine will be created there, so that people can get vaccine on payment. He also mentioned that Government of India has introduced vaccination facility for people above 60 and also co-morbidities patients above 45. This will be notified soon.

7. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 501 active cases, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 127 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh stated that they have 279 active cases.

8. Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation stated that presently Apni Mandis do not pose much risk and necessary precautions have been taken.

9. The Administrator appealed to the citizens to strictly follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour. He also requested the hosts and organizers of events like marriages, conferences etc. to provide for masks and sanitizers on the site, so that the participants and the guests can use it while attending the events.

10. The Administrator stated that option of night curfew, closure of markets, sealing of borders and restrictions of numbers in different events will be considered, in case the number of corona patients continue to rise. He appealed to the residents to co-operate with the Administration and to voluntarily follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
