Rational Pharmacotherapy in view of COVID-19

ONLINE CONFERENCE
EXPERIMENTAL PHARMACOLOGY LABORATORY (EPL), DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY, PGIMER, CHANDIGARH 160012, INDIA

A virtual conference of Indian Society for Rational Pharmacotherapeutics (ISRPTCON-2021) was successfully organized by Experimental Pharmacology Laboratory, Dept. of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh from 12th -13th Feb. 2021.

The theme of the conference was “Rational Pharmacotherapy in view of COVID-19”. Main focus of the conference was to foster and disseminate the science of drug research and its rational use. More than 200 delegates from prestigious institutes from all states of India attended the workshop. The conference started with welcome address by Prof. Bikash Medhi and inaugural speeches by Prof. Sandeep Kaushal (Secretary ISRPT) and Prof. C D Tripathi (President ISRPT). Official video inauguration of the conference was done in the presence of Chief Guest Prof K.D. Tripathi, Prof. C D Tripathi, Prof. Y.K. Gupta.Vote of thanks was addressed by Prof. Rajiv Kumar.

The first scientific session of the conference was started with an excellent key note address given by Prof. Y K Gupta on “COVID-19 Drug Development and Recent pattern of Clinical trials with Future Prospects” followed by lecture of Prof. H S Rehan on “Emergency Approval/Investigational New Drug during pandemic and Rationality in impact on Therapeutics”, Prof. Sandeep Kaushal on “Safety Evaluation of Vaccines: An Overview”. This session was chaired by Prof. S K Tripathi & Prof. Usha Rani. Second scientific session was based on the theme “Antibiotic and Current Challenges” chaired by Prof. Pavan Malhotra & Prof. Suhrita Pal. Several lectures were delivered in this session.

Prof. S P Dhanaria spoke on the topic“Antibiotic resistance: Emergence of multiple drug resistance globally and Indian Scenario-special concern to anti-TB: way forward”, Dr. Subhadip Sinha on “The Approach to Reviewing and Improving Medicine Management in Health care delivery”, Prof. S K Tripathi on “Rational Use of Medicines: Have We Hit or Missed the Target and National Essential Drug List”. A session for free oral paper presentation was also organized and session was chaired by Prof. Nilima Kshirsagar, Prof. Nirmala Rege, Prof. K K Sharma & Dr. Vijay M. Motghare. Second day of the conference continued with oral presentations and the session was chaired by Prof. Rajiv Kumar & Prof. Mangala Lahkar. After the scientific session, Prof Bikash Medhi, Organizing Chairman presented the report of the workshop and Dr. Ajay Prakash had taken feedback from the participants.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Rajiv Kumar.
The organizing team includes Dr. Ajay Praksah, Dr. Pramod Avti, Dr. Phulen Sarma, Dr. Saurabh Sharma, Dr. Seema Bansal, Ms. Sukhmeet and Ms. Neha Dhir under the supervision of Professor Bikash Medhi.
