Chandigarh.2 February,2021:Consequent upon the orders of Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, New Delhi, the office of Registering & Licensing Authority, UT., Chandigarh vide Chandigarh Transport Department notification no.2/3/1-HIII(7)-2013/3582 dated 27th February, 2013 has implemented the scheme of High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) in UT Chandigarh in the year 2013.
Now, as per the latest directions of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, New Delhi, the affixation of HSRP and third registration mark (Colour Coded Sticker) on the vehicles (old and new) has made mandatory requirement.
Therefore, general public is hereby informed that the office of Registering & Licensing Authority, UT., Chandigarh has been carrying out the process for installing of High Security Registration Plates and third registration mark on the vehicles as follows:
The registered owners of vehicles having registration number for the series “CH01BK” and “CH01BL” shall apply for affixation of the HSRP & third registration mark in RLA Office Sector 17 Chandigarh within in the month of February, 2021 from the date 01.02.2020 as per the due procedure available on official website chdtransport.gov.in. Failing which, the owner of vehicles shall be liable for challan.
Any other registered owner of the vehicle having registration number within the series “CH01BM” to “CH01BT” may also apply for affixation of the HSRP & third registration mark in RLA Office Sector 17 Chandigarh only.
The registered owners of vehicles of other old/existing series shall apply for HSRP & third registration mark in RLA Office Sector 17 Chandigarh, SDM(South) Sports Complex Sector 42 Chandigarh and SDM(East) CTU Workshop Industrial Area Phase-I Chandigarh.
In addition to above, the Transport Department, Chandigarh has also authorized the dealers of the OEMs to affix Colour coded sticker and affixation of the HSRPs on old and new vehicles. Hence, the registered owners of vehicles of other old/existing series can also approach their concerned dealers (of their vehicle’s make) for getting affixed HSRP including third registration mark (Colour coded sticker) on their vehicles.
The replacement for any existing registration plate may be made only after ensuring that the old plate has been surrendered and destroyed at office premises.
The vehicles owners who fail to get the HSRP & Colour coded sticker (third registration mark) affixed on their vehicles shall be liable for prosecution under Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, CMV Rules, 1989.
