Carmel Convent School organises Infotainment Session on Organ Donation with ‘COVID Appropriate Behaviour’

Chandigarh : 22 December : In sync with the motto of NSS, ‘Not Me, But You’, Carmel Convent School organized an infotainment session with ‘COVID Appropriate Behaviour ‘on the noble cause of Organ Donation for the volunteers of NSS during their ongoing camp at the school premises in Sector-9, Chandigarh, today.

Mr. Bikram Rana, State Liaison Officer (NSS) Chandigarh graced as the Chief Guest on the Session organised under student engagement programme “Be The Change, Be An Organ Donor” of Regional Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO) PGIMER.
Expressing his happiness at the positive turnout at the session, Mr. Bikram Rana, said, “Organ Donation is truly a manifestation of NSS motto, Not Me, But You, There could not have been a better way to teach the spirit of selfless service amongst the students.”. He highlighted the need to talk about the issue and proposed to make this campaign a part of NSS activities in other schools as well. The Chief Guest also lauded the efforts of the NSS volunteers in Covid 19.

Ms Preeti Swami, NSS Programme Officer, Carmel Convent School, reiterated the sentiment and said, “Encouraging participation from the students to inculcate awareness among family members to promote Organ Donation is a welcome step as students can act as ‘change agents.’

The session started a Painting competition, which witnessed creativity as well as sensitivity towards the cause at its best. Voicing their support for the organ donation and its soul satisfying benefits, the students displayed surprising work of art and imagination in the Painting Competition. The Quiz Contest also witnessed equally enthusiastic response with students vying for the answers.

These fun activities were followed by an awareness talk on the altruistic cause of Organ Donation by a resource team from ROTTO PGIMER comprising Mr. Karanjot Thind and Mr. Gurpinder Singh. The speakers also addressed the queries pertaining to the myths and misconceptions prevalent in the society.

The event culminated with the felicitation of the winners of the painting competition and quiz contest.
