Orders passed by the Chandigarh Administration on dated 05.11.2020 regarding imposition of Stock limits on Onion in Union Territory, Chandigarh

Chandigarh. 7 November,2020:In light of recent orders passed by the Chandigarh Administration on dated 05.11.2020 regarding imposition of Stock limits on Onion in Union Territory, Chandigarh, a team of Food & Supplies and Consumer Affairs & Legal Metrology Department comprising Inspectors Neeraj Ghai, Khushdev Singla and Tarun Narula under the supervision of Manoj Kumar, AF&SO conducted an inspection of onion Wholesalers/Retailers at Sector-26 Sabji Mandi in the wee hours of the morning today.
During this inspection the stock registers of Wholesalers/Comission agents /Traders of onion operating at Sector-26 Sabji Mandi were checked. Also stock position including opening balance, sale and closing balance of various onion traders were checked and they were directed to maintain proper record of sale and purchase of onion on daily basis. They were also instructed to maintain the stock limits of 25 MT for Wholesalers & 2 MT for Retailers as per the notification of Chandigarh Administration issued vide order dated 05.11.2020.
Its worthwhile to mention here that the wholesale prices of onion in Sector-26 Sabji Mandi vary from Rs.40-45/- per kg. However, the retail prices were around Rs.60-65/- per kg.
