Chandigarh, Nov 5 – Haryana Police has rescued 31 cattle that were being transported in an illegal way in a container truck in Nuh district.
Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that after getting a tip-off about cattle smuggling in a container truck bearing Uttar Pradesh registration number, a police team established a naka and intercepted the vehicle and rescued 12 cows, 10 bulls and 9 calves from the vehicle. However, taking advantage of the hilly and bumpy road, two accused managed to escape from the spot.
All the rescued cattle were taken to the gaushala. Initial investigations revealed that cattle were being taken for slaughter to somewhere.
Efforts are on to nab the accused and a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Further investigation is underway, he added.
