Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, Sh. VP Singh Badnore today presided over War Room meeting. The meeting was attended by Sh. Manoj Parida, Adviser to the Administrator & Sh. Sanjay Kumar Beniwal, Director General of Police at Punjab Raj Bhawan. Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Home, Sh. KK Yadav, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, Deputy Commissioner, UT & Deputy Commissioners of Mohali & Panchkula, Director-PGIMER, Director Health Services & Director Principal, GMCH attended through Video Conferencing.

WAR ROOM DIRECTIONS
1. Director, PGIMER stated that they have 95 covid patients in Nehru Extension Block, out of which 18 belong to Chandigarh, 40 belong to Punjab, 11 belong to Haryana, 17 to Himachal Pradesh and remaining to other states. He also stated that they have tested 363 covid samples, out of which 38 were found positive and 21 belong to Chandigarh. Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER further mentioned that OPDs have been opened in Cardiology, Ophthalmology and Pediatrics Departments. He also mentioned that additional ventilators have now been supplied by Government of India and PGIMER has got 40 ventilators exclusively for Covid Care Centre.

Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh stated that proper coordination should be made between PGIMER, GMCH-32 & GMSH-16, so that there is no over-crowding in the OPDs of PGIMER.

Acting Director GMCH, Dr. Jasbinder Kaur stated that they have tested 1,214 covid samples, out of which 64 were found positive. Thus, the positivity rate was 5.2%. She also mentioned that Sood Dharamshala has now been closed and only Dhanwantry Hospital is being operated with the facilities of medical college and hospital. Dr. Amandeep Kang, Director Health Services stated that they have conducted 4,605 tests and the positivity rate in Antigen Testing is 3.6%. She also mentioned that 14,962 houses have been checked for Malaria/Dengue cases. She also mentioned that against target, 65,794 pulse polio Vaccinations have been given to 55% of the children. Rest will be covered in next two days.

2. Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 556 active cases & 7% positivity rate, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula stated that they have 210 active cases & 114 deaths and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh stated that they have 618 active cases.

3. Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh directed the Police and District Authorities to be more strict in issuing challans against the persons not following covid protocol. He stated that special care must be taken, since the risk of infection will be greater due to festival gathering. Special focus should be given to market areas, where people congregate to make purchases.

4. The Administrator directed Secretary, Food & Supplies to keep a watch on the onion price, so that market intervention can be made, when required.

5. The Administrator mentioned that doctors have opined that toxic air arising out of crackers is likely to affect the lungs and, hence, Chandigarh citizens should avoid or minimize bursting of crackers during festival season. There is a need to keep Chandigarh pollution free, so that there is no resurgence of lung diseases or covid cases.

6. The Administrator appealed to the citizens to strictly follow covid appropriate behaviour, so that the lives of senior citizens and children are not put to risk. Chandigarh must avoid second surge at all costs.
