22,000 intoxicating tablets seized in Fatehabad, one held

Chandigarh, July 30 – Haryana Police has arrested a person and recovered 22,000 tablets fallen under the category of prohibited drugs from his possession in Fatehabad district.

Yesterday, police had recovered 8200 intoxicating tablets from the possession of two accused in the district. Furthering the investigation into the case, police had arrested the main drug supplier with 2200 strips (22000 tablets) of prohibited Alprazolam tablets.

Giving this information here today, a Haryana Police spokesperson informed that arrested accused has been identified as Pritam alias Tilu, a resident of Hisar district. The crackdown was made by a team of Anti-Narcotic Cell during patrolling near village Kharakheri.

During preliminary interrogation, the arrested accused revealed that he had brought the seized drugs from a person Banna, a resident of Rajgarh in Rajasthan. Efforts were going to arrest the supplier.

A case under NDPS Act was registered against the accused and further investigation has been taken up. Police have been making concrete efforts to counter the menace of drugs, he added.
