Chandigarh, August 31:-* Sh. Davesh Moudgil, Mayor of Chandigarh received
digital India excellence award in digital India conclave organized by elets
at hotel Taj, here last evening. Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS, Commissioner,
MCC-cum-CEO-Chandigarh Smart City Ltd. was also present during the conclave.
While sharing about the award, the Mayor said that the MCC has been awarded
with excellence in Smart city initiatives for SCADA system. He said that
Chandigarh’s sectoral grid has a well-designed system of piped water supply
and sewerage disposal. Under the city’s water byelaws, every planned
dwelling unit has to have water and sewerage connections.
The Mayor said that focusing on the efforts of MCC in bringing more and
more services under digitized profile, the SCADA system has been developed
for better surveillance and monitoring of water received and pumped from
different water works. He said that with this project the MCC has not only
gained more reliable water supply system but also reduction of manpower and
efficient operation and maintenance of pumping machinery. It has been
proven better model for generation of data for MIS for cost effective
decision making and reduce unaccounted for water by identifying losses, the
Mayor added.
The Mayor also emphasized upon the growing fondness of digital services of
Chandigarh Administration and MCC among citizens.
