12000 banned tablets seized, three held

Chandigarh, April 6 – In yet another anti-drug drive, Haryana Police has seized 12,000 banned tablets and arrested three persons who were in possession of the drugs in Sirsa district.

Yesterday, police had arrested four people, including three Rajasthan residents, for drug peddling and had recovered 50,000 banned tablets from them.

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of Haryana Police informed that a team of Crime Investigation Agency during patrolling near Moriwala area had signaled a car, coming from Fatehabad side, to stop for checking. Instead of stopping, the driver attempted to escape by taking a U-turn. On suspicion, police nabbed them and a search of the vehicle led to the seizure of 12,000 tablets, which fell under the category of banned drugs.

The arrested accused are identified as Gurpreet Singh, Tarsem and Swaran Singh alias Kala.

Case under the provisions of the NDPS Act was registered against them. They will be taken on remand by producing them in the Court so that the names of others involved in drug peddling could be unearthed. Further probe is underway, he added.
